Following the unprecedented flooding in Southern Alberta, some of the biggest names in music, including Jim Cuddy, are joining forces with business leaders and the Province of Alberta to stage the Halo High Water Benefit Concert on August 4 at the Southern Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary to raise money in support of the Calgary Foundation’s Flood Rebuilding Fund.
The performances will broadcast on CBC TV and Radio and Aboriginal Peoples Television Network in conjunction with a telethon that will enable all Canadians to donate and support the people and communities impacted by the flooding. CBC Music will also broadcast on-demand video of the full show and individual artist’s performances.
Besides Jim, the concert and telecast will feature an all-star roster of talent including Susan Aglukark, Paul Brandt and George Canyon, with more performers to be announced in the coming weeks. Tom Jackson is the event’s Executive Producer and host.
Tickets for the benefit concerts go on sale Saturday, July 20 with details to be posted to the Halo High Water Benefit Concert site, on Twitter and on the Facebook event listing.
Donations will be directed to the Flood Rebuilding Fund at The Calgary Foundation, which will focus on the long-term community needs related to the devastating flooding that turned thriving communities into disaster zones. Direct donations can be made online (thecalgaryfoundation.org), over the phone (403-802-7700) or by cheque (Suite 700, 999 8 Street SW Calgary, AB T2R 1J5).

Jim will be headlining a very special event in Mulmur, ON, this summer. On August 16, Jim will be joined by friends like Bazil Donovan, Anne Lindsay, Devon Cuddy and Colin Cripps, as well as special guest, Jesse Cook, for the All-Star Jamboree at Lyric Pond.
The concert is in support of challenging inappropriate land use in Mulmur and Melancthon, a cause close to Jim’s heart, as evidenced by his participation in last year’s Soupstock to stop the Megaquarry.
Tickets for the Jamboree can be reserved by e-mail and include a buffet dinner. Check out the flyer for more info.

At this past weekend’s Juno Cup, music melded with hockey as the Juno Rockers battled the NHL Greats. As in past years, Jim took part in the annual game and CBC Music was there to capture some special moments.
Check out these videos of the teams singing our beloved national anthem, “O Canada”, and a fun locker room jam of fellow Canuck Tom Cochrane’s “Life Is A Highway”.
